7:00 to 8:45 pm

Corvallis-Benton County Public Library

Speaker:
Lauren Regan, Executive Director, Civil Liberties Defense Center

The League of Women Voters of Corvallis invites you to a special presentation about First Amendment Rights by Lauren Regan, Executive Director and staff attorney for the Civil Liberties Defense Center (CLDC), which is based in Eugene.

The program begins at 7 pm with an overview of League programs for 2017-18. League committees include Climate Change, Community Planning, Housing, Local Food, Social Policy, Voters Service, and Membership.

At 7:30 pm, Lauren Regan of CLDC will provide an exploration of hate speech and hate crimes within the context of First Amendment rights. CLDC defends and upholds civil liberties through education, outreach, litigation, legal support, and assistance. Their staff educates people about their rights and why their rights are important, defends front line activists, and exposes and confronts the erosion of our civil liberties and the Bill of Rights.

Following the featured presentation, there will be plenty of time for audience questions.
