CRACK SEAL
The crack sealant will prevent the invasion of surface water between the layers of asphalt and sub-grade rock, preventing street deterioration and potholes.

Streets are not typically closed during crack-seal work, but on-street parking is prohibited during the application so the contractor has full access to the work area from curb to curb. Residents on affected streets will receive a mailing with a detailed schedule of streets to be crack-sealed prior to the beginning of work. "No parking" signs will be posted 48 hours in advance of the work.

SLURRY SEAL
The slurry sealant helps to preserve existing paved streets by applying a thin layer of asphalt over the entire street surface. It slows down the aging process of the asphalt surface caused by ultraviolet rays and vehicle traffic wear. Using slurry in conjunction with a crack seal program provides a cost-effective method to prevent premature aging.

Traffic and on-street parking is prohibited while the slurry work is being performed and for a period afterwards as the material cures.

During the slurry seal application, access to streets will be interrupted for an entire day. Residents will not be able to park or drive on their street between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. They will receive a mailing with a detailed schedule of streets to be slurry-sealed prior to the beginning of work and "no parking" signs will be posted at least 48 hours in advance of the day slurry-sealing will occur on a street. The signs will state the exact closure date and time period.

For your safety and the safety of the workers, please obey all traffic control devices and flagging operations during construction. Corvallis Public Works appreciates the patience and cooperation of the community during this upcoming maintenance project. Residents along the affected streets can inquire about the project by calling 541-754-1772 or emailing publicworks@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
