Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care
After 37 years, local non-profit Benton Hospice Service is changing its name to Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care. Over the last four decades, the communities of the Mid-Willamette Valley have come to know and rely on Benton Hospice Service. The area non-profit was formed in 1980 by local medical providers, David and Jean Kliewer and a group of dedicated volunteers, as a community resource for residents nearing the end of life. With roots firmly planted, Benton Hospice Service has grown to become a vibrant non-profit organization with over 50 employees and 125 volunteers, and serving upwards of 400 patients a year. However, a recent community perception study suggested that for the organization to continue to meet the needs of an aging population, they should reconsider their name. Read more here!
