AARP Foundation Tax Aide (available February - April): Free tax preparation and assistance for taxpayers of all ages and backgrounds is available during tax season. If you are 50 and older and can't afford a tax service, this program was made for you. You do not need to be retired or a member of the AARP to use this service. In the Corvallis area, Tax Aide is offered at the Center, the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, the Corvallis Elks Lodge, and the Philomath Public Library. Hours and days of service vary by site. Walk-ins with no appointment are available at some sites. Call (541) 602-5829 for more information (during tax season only) to schedule an appointment.
Adult Incontinence Brief Service: The Center now offers incontinence briefs to people who have low incomes. Call for brand and size information. One package per customer per month, based on availability. Delivery available upon request. Call the Center at (541) 766-6959 to sign up. Fee: Free.
Assistive Listening Equipment: To allow people with hearing impairment to participate in our programs and activities, an interpreter can be provided with 48 hours notice prior to the meeting. Call Sharon at (541) 754-1709 to request this service. Fee: Free. Assistive Vision Equipment:
An image magnifier that enlarges printed text is available for use in the Center's Lounge on a drop-in basis during the Center's regularly open hours. Fee: Free.
Blood Pressure Clinic: Have your blood pressure checked by a registered nurse on the 2nd Thursday of each month, 9 - 10 am. Call (541) 766-6959 for an appointment. Drop-ins welcome. Fee: Free. The nurse is provided by the Benton County Health Department.
Book Lending Library: The Senior Center has a variety of books available to borrow for free. Come and check it out!
Cell Phones for Emergency Use: A cell phone can be used to reach 911 even if the phone is not activated. If you're interested in receiving one, call (541) 766-6959. Fee: Free.
Cyber Den Computer Lab: Drop in computer lab featuring computers with internet connections, common office software installed, and printer access. Generally available Monday - Friday, 8 am - 3:45 pm. For age 50+ only. Fee: $5 for 90 day pass OR $2 per day
Computer Support Clinic: Receive one-on-one assistance with computer questions from our volunteer Computer Support Clinic Assistants. Times for assistance vary; please call (541) 766-6959 to get the current schedule. Fee: Free w/ Cyber Den Pass.
Eyeglass Drop Box: Share the gift of sight with people who otherwise would not be able to afford eyeglasses. Unwanted eyeglasses may be dropped off at the Center. The Corvallis Lions Club picks up the used glasses for cataloging and distribution to needy people all over the world.
Foot Care: Basic nail trimming and foot care (including diabetic foot care) are provided by Christy Wright, R.N., BSN. Appointments are available several times a month. Call (541) 766-6959 for an appointment. Fee: $25 ($31.25 outside City).
Massage: Massage is a great way to give your body and mind a break. Call (541) 766-6959 for more information.
Medical Equipment Lending: canes, walkers and wheelchairs can be borrowed for free from the Center (donations of these items also accepted). Call or stop in to reserve this equipment. Recycle Magazines:
The Center provides recycling containers for magazines. You are welcome to look through the magazines and take them home, as well as bringing yours to recycle. We receive a variety of quality magazines. Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance (SHIBA):
Feeling lost in the insurance maze? Trained volunteers can assist you with Medicare questions, consumer information about Medicare supplement insurance, long term care insurance and medical claims. Call RSVP for an appointment at (541) 812-0849. Sponsored by SHIBA.
Senior Meals: If you are age 60 and over, come enjoy a delicious lunch in the company of others at the Center. Lunch is served Monday through Friday at 11:30 am, and reservations are required.
- To eat lunch at the Center: call (541) 753-1022 three days in advance of the day you wish to come to reserve your meal
- For home-bound seniors: meals can be delivered via Meals on Wheels. Call 541-967-8630 for more information or to schedule home delivery.
No matter which option you choose, you will have two hot entrees to choose from each day, and there is a suggested donation of $3.50 toward the cost of the meal (Oregon Trail card accepted). Utility Drop Boxes:
Save money on stamps by bringing the following bills to the Center's drop boxes: Comcast, Republic Services, and City of Corvallis Water. Fee: Free.
Video Lending Library:
DVD and VHS movies are available for you to check out for up to 1 week at no charge in the Center's Lounge. Fee: Free. Donations of DVDs are welcome; please drop them off at the Center's front desk.
Wellness Library: Check out the health and wellness library's collection of books, guides, publications, videos and audiotapes, all available for checkout up to 1 week. Get the information you need to stay healthy! Fee: Free.
Corvallis Participant Liability Waiver
All participants in Corvallis Parks & Recreation programs must certify the following at the time of registration
I hereby certify that I am 18 years of age or older and/or I am the parent or legal guardian of the participant, who is under 18 years of age. I understand that any sports/recreation program has an inherent risk of being strenuous, or could result in death or injury to me or my child. I assume all risks as a result of participation in this program. If I cannot be reached in an emergency situation, I hereby give permission to the Corvallis Parks & Recreation Department and their employees to arrange for transportation and/or emergency medical treatment if my child or I are seriously injured while participating in this program. For myself, my heirs and assigns I agree to waive, release and forever discharge any claim for injury or damage, and hold harmless the City of Corvallis, its officers, agents and employees against any claim, loss, liability or expenses, including attorney's fees, resulting directly or indirectly from participation in this program.
