Plan Review Process
Plans are required in conjunction with permit applications for new buildings or the remodel, expansion, or change of use of existing buildings. Plans may not be required for simple building repairs or other construction activities that do not affect the structural integrity of the building, public health or safety. Please check with a Permit Technician to see if your project qualifies. Certified plan review staff will review and approve plans prior to issuing a permit to construct.
The process of plan review involves numerous steps. Development Services has attempted to simplify and streamline these processes. Below are links to presentations with step-by-step overviews of both residential and commercial plan review processes. Audio narration will be added soon.
A comprehensive project guide has been developed in effort to save time and assist with ensuring the plans and application are complete:

Multi-Family, Commercial, and Industrial Plans
Plans for multifamily, commercial, and industrial projects are generally more comprehensive and usually require the involvement of a design professional.
