Background Information About the Project

An initial step in implementation of the Council goal was forming a joint Scoping Committee to determine projects, resources, and desired outcomes. Representatives from the City and OSU signed a memorandum of understanding to officially begin the initiative.  The Scoping Committee held a public meeting on November 16, 2011 to provide an update on recommended priorities and next steps, and to hear public comments. On December 19, 2011 City staff presented a proposed Intergovernmental Agreement with OSU for Council's consideration.

The Scoping Committee completed its work and a new City/OSU Collaboration Project Steering Committee was formed with the following members:

CITY - Julie Manning (Mayor), Hal Brauner (Councilor), Roen Hogg (Councilor), Nancy Brewer (City Manager Pro Tem), Ken Gibb (Community Development Department Director)
OSU - Dave Dodson, Mark McCambridge, Ed Ray, Steve Clark, Jock Mills
ASOSU - Taylor Sarman, Cassie Huber
IFC - Brendan Sanders
COUNTY - Jay Dixon (County Commissioner)
COMMUNITY - Patricia Daniels, Dolf Devos, Jim Moorefield

The first meeting of the Steering Committee was held on February 6, 2012. The agenda included project orientation, operating protocols and other organizational items.
