Resident Volunteers maintain their assigned station as their primary residence and work shifts with career personnel. Resident volunteers receive free lodging in their assigned fire station. This is often an ideal situation for OSU, LBCC, and Chemeketa students. Duties and expectations include:
- Training a minimum of 8 hours per month, usually on Tuesday evenings;
- Volunteering six 12-hour duty shifts and two 24-hour duty shifts each month (approximately one 12-hour shift every third evening, plus two twenty-four hour shifts);
- EMT certification is not required. However, reimbursement is available for aspects of EMT training once certification is achieved.
