Crime Analyst

Countywide crime analysis services began in 2000 with the addition of one full time civilian crime analyst. The Crime Analyst provides a single coordinated effort to all residents of Corvallis, Philomath, and Benton County, utilizing advanced computer software programs to identify and report crime trends.

The crime analyst's primary responsibilities include providing a variety of professional, analytical, and administrative assistance, including preparing and developing statistical interpretation and presenting reports.  The analyst maps crime trends,  analyzes specific crime elements involved in the trends, and produces detailed reports supporting tactical action planning.  Such tactical action plans are focused on preventing further criminal activity and suppressing crime through arrest.  Tactical action plans have been developed to assist in deterrence or prevention of property crimes such a burglaries and car break-ins.
