- At least 18 years of age at time of hire
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a background investigation
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to meet physical, medical and psychological requirements for the position
Salary and benefits
The starting salary for an entry level 9-1-1 Telecommunicator is:
$29.18 hourly
$5,058 a month
$60,703 annually
There are six steps in the 9-1-1 Telecommunicator classification. The salary at the top step of this classification is:
$37.25 hourly
$6,456 a month
$77,474 annually

Lateral 9-1-1 Telecommunicator: The Chief of Police has the discretion to start Lateral 9-1-1 Telecommunicators at a higher pay step consistent with years of experience.
Are there any salary incentives I can earn?
The Corvallis Regional Communications Center offers several different incentives to 9-1-1 Telecommunicators:
Certification from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST):
Intermediate Certification: 4.5% addition to base salary
Advanced Certification: 8% addition to base salary
Bilingual: A 5% increase to base salary can be earned by those 9-1-1 Telecommunicators who demonstrate proficiency in a second language. Proficiency is demonstrated through annual testing.

The Hiring Process
The recruitment process for the 9-1-1 Telecommunicator position will take approximately 6 months to complete. You must pass each step in order to continue in the process. Prior applicants are eligible to reapply.
