On October 17, 2023, at approximately 11:30 am Corvallis Police Officers responded to Cheldelin Middle School at 987 NE Conifer Blvd for a report of a student on the roof. An officer and a member of the C.O.R.E. (Crisis, Outreach, Response, and Engage) team talked with the student trying to convince him to come down and diffuse the situation. A fire truck with a ladder was summoned so the student could come down safely, however the student eventually got off of the roof without the ladder and ran from police in the direction of the Jackson Frazier Wetland.
Beavers are extraordinary animals with a profound influence on our local ecosystems and enrich our culture. Corvallis is working with beavers to improve environmental benefits. Collaboration with City departments and community organizations has been essential in making this project a success. Thank you to everyone that is involved. Together, we aim to further harmonize beavers and our urban environment.
