Corvallis is a compact, well-planned city with an extensive network of bike lanes, shared use paths and sidewalks to connect you to your destination by walking, riding or rolling. We support alternative forms of transportation and sustainable infrastructure that has resulted in a city transportation choice where 11% of Corvallis residents commute by bicycle and 12% commute by walking to their destination. The compact nature of the city’s 14 square miles, combined with its linked bicycle facilities and relatively flat terrain, allows almost any trip to be accomplished by bicycle in less than 15 minutes.

In the city's 2018 Corvallis Community Survey, area residents rated their satisfaction with cycling options at 81%, much higher than the national average. The survey also indicated that 82% of area residents indicated they had walked or biked as an alternative to driving.

Corvallis boasts 98% of the city’s collector and arterial roadways having bike lanes, 18 miles of shared use paths and the introduction of our first buffered bike lanes, as the city’s latest evolution of standard bicycle facilities.

Corvallis celebrates distinguished designations that give proof to our exemplary pedestrian and bicycle networks. We have been recognized for the following:

  • Since 2003, Corvallis achieved a Gold level Bicycle Friendly Community award by the League of American Bicyclists
  • Corvallis is Gold level certified by Walk Friendly Communities, being part of the program since 2011
  • Achieved designation from PeopleForBikes in 2019 celebrating city bicycling conditions
