June 1, 2022 - The Corvallis Police Department was selected as one of three law enforcement agencies nationwide to pilot a new crisis training program being developed by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance. The intensive, 40-hour training program is designed to prepare police officers in their response to people experiencing crises related to behavioral health conditions, as well as intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Ward 6 Councilor Laurie Chaplen and Ward 9 Councilor Andrew Struthers will host a hybrid joint ward meeting at 6:30 p.m. on June 14. The meeting will be held in person at Osborn Aquatic Center, 1940 NW Highland Dr., as well as online via Zoom.
The program will include a brief presentation by Corvallis Police Department Captain Jason Harvey.
The organizers will leave plenty of time for your questions at the end of the meeting. A recording of the ward meeting will be available online after the meeting for anyone who couldn't attend.
