Planning Work Program

OVERVIEW
A portion of the Planning Division mission is to respond to community development goals that are established by the City Council and community members. The City Council goals often have their genesis in discussions with community members and other interested parties, who are actively engaged in promoting, improving, and enhancing this community's livability. Additionally, the Planning Division is responsible for implementing comprehensive plan policy and development code amendments required by State and Federal law.

WORK PROGRAM

Natural Features

OVERVIEW
The City of Corvallis adopted Natural Features protections as part of the implementation of Phase III of the 2006 Land Development Code (LDC). In addition to the Natural Hazards and Natural Resources Overlays that are illustrated on the City's zoning and comprehensive plan maps, additional maps and data sheets are available below, which provide more detailed descriptions of the natural features that are protected under the 2006 LDC provisions.

Master Plans and Area Plans

Background

Planning Division staff provide professional support to other City Departments, as well as outside entities such as Benton County, Oregon State University and Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, in the development and monitoring of master plans.

Land Use Cases - Archives

The Planning Division maintains both paper files and electronic databases that contain information about land use case history, activities, decisions, documents, and maps. Land use records in Corvallis date back to the 1800s, primarily in the form of ordinances related to various land use regulations. The first Corvallis zoning ordinance was adopted in 1932. Land use case information available through this website includes access to the City's land use case database (Accela Automation Citizen Portal) and the City's electronic document management system (Laserfiche Weblink).

Historic Preservation Permits

The City of Corvallis is home to over 700 Designated Historic Resources. Designated Historic Resources include properties listed on the Corvallis Register of Historic Landmarks and Districts (Local Register) and those on the National Register of Historic Places (National Register). While the bulk of these resources are located within the Avery-Helm, College-Hill West, or Oregon State University Historic Districts, over 100 resources have been designated individually outside of Districts.
