Most people don't spend their days working in the existing City Hall or the Law Enforcement Building, so it makes sense that they wouldn't have a thorough understanding of the daily challenges that come with spending time in this aging facilities.

The mission of the Corvallis Police Department is to enhance community livability by working in partnership with the community to promote public safety and crime prevention through education and enforcement; to maintain public order while preserving the legal rights of all individuals; to provide effective, efficient and courteous service; and to reduce the impact of crime.

The nine-member City Council is elected by ward to serve a two-year term as the governing body for Corvallis. The Mayor presides at Council meetings and is elected at-large for a four-year term. The Mayor and Council provide community leadership, develop policies to guide the City in delivering services and achieving community goals, and encourage public awareness and involvement.
