Public Notice: December 4, 2023 Council Meeting Agenda Update

News - For Immediate Release

December 1, 2023 - The City Attorney's Office provided this statement regarding a change to the published agenda for the upcoming December 4, 2023 Corvallis City Council meeting. A revised agenda will be available soon.

After providing Councilor Ellis with a written notice in the form of a three-page draft resolution, setting out the allegations and process, Council Leadership believed it had an understanding with Councilor Ellis that she did not want a due process hearing and would instead forfeit her position at the end of the December 4 City Council meeting. Leadership also understood Councilor Ellis to agree to the summary form of the resolution in the packet for the December 4 meeting.

Councilor Ellis has now reconsidered that decision and has asked to have a due process hearing focused on whether her actions at the Climate Action Advisory Board on September 13, 2023 and/or at the City Council meeting on September 18, 2023 violated Section 23(f) of the City Charter.  This hearing will be scheduled as the first item for the Council meeting on December 18, 2023. The draft resolution setting out the allegations and process (that Councilor Ellis received and that will be the question at the end of the due process hearing) is available below.
