Still No Candidate for Ward 9 in Corvallis

August 4, 2022 - With just two weeks to go until the deadline to file for candidacy in the upcoming November 8, 2022 General Election in Corvallis, no candidates have submitted petitions to run for the Ward 9 City Council seat. At least one candidate has filed in each of the other wards, as well as for the office of the Mayor. Ward 9 includes neighborhoods and commercial areas in the northeast corner of Corvallis.

There’s still time for prospective candidates to pick up the nomination petition packet and collect signatures to qualify for the ballot in November. The nomination packet is available to download on the City website at www.corvallisoregon.gov/cm/page/election-information. Packets are available to pick up from Corvallis City Hall (501 SW Madison Ave.), the Corvallis Public Library (645 NW Monroe Ave.), and the C3 Corvallis Community Center (2601 NW Tyler Ave.). A digital copy of the packet will also be available for download on the City website.

The deadline to turn in completed election paperwork is August 19, but prospective candidates are encouraged to turn in their materials as early as possible to allow time for processing. The City Recorder is available to meet with prospective candidates to review the nomination process, answer questions, and accept forms.

If no candidate steps forward to run in Ward 9, that Council seat will only include a write-in option on the November ballot.

Starting in 2023, all Corvallis elected officials will be eligible for monthly stipends ranging from $360 for a Councilor, to $560 for the Mayor.
