Osborn Aquatic Center Natatorium Construction Project

Assessment and History

The City of Corvallis closed the Aquatic Center on October 2, 2024, pending further technical evaluation. The evaluation determined that the natatorium needed to remain closed and shored until significant repairs could be completed. Before the indoor pools can reopen, the natatorium roof, HVAC system, and 50-meter pool liner must be replaced.

From February 2025through August 2026, City staff continued operating the facility’s two outdoor pools and providing a variety of aquatic programs. These included lap swimming, exercise classes, multiple swim teams, toddler time, open recreational swim, swimming lessons, and staff training.

During this same period, the indoor natatorium remained shored while a comprehensive facility assessment was completed, and a general contractor was selected and hired to carry out the necessary construction. The project includes repairs to the natatorium roof, installation of a new HVAC system, and replacement of the 50-meter pool liner.

Construction Phase

August 30, 2026, marked the final day the entire facility was open to the public before construction begins. The entire Osborn Aquatic Center will temporarily close beginning September 14, 2026, with reopening anticipated in Fall 2027.

There is currently a $1.5 million funding gap for the project. To help address this shortfall, a capital fundraising campaign is being launched to engage community members, local organizations, businesses, and other potential supporters in helping fund the remaining project costs.

The Corvallis School District owns the Osborn Aquatic Center and serves as the project manager for the natatorium construction project. The City of Corvallis provides facility operations and manages the aquatic programs and services offered at the center.
