Demolition Permit
When is a Demolition Permit Needed?
A demolition permit is required whenever a structure regulated by the State of Oregon One and Two Family Dwelling Code or the State of Oregon Structural Specialty Code is proposed to be demolished.
Who May Purchase this Permit?
A demolition permit may be purchased by the property owner or his/her authorized agent. Demolition permit applications must include the name and signature of all property owners listed on the title, or include legal authorization for an agent to sign (i.e. power-of-attorney).
What is the Review Process for a Demolition Permit?
On December 1, 2014, the process for obtaining a demolition permit changed to include a mandatory 50-calendar day notification period that must be completed prior to demolishing any detached one- or two-family residential structure (including detached garages and accessory structures 200 square feet or greater.) The process includes notification of the affected neighborhood association and other interested parties, and offering the structure for acquisition to interested parties. More information can be found in Development Services Policy 1097.
The review of demolition permit applications for other types of structures (other than one- or two-family dwellings and residential accessory structures) does not require public notice, and generally is completed within one week of the date a complete application is submitted.
What is the Cost of the Permit?
A demolition permit application generally requires payment of the Demolition Permit, Land Development Code Review, Building Service Enhancement and Building Plan Review fees. A sewer cap fee and water cap fee of $50.00 each may also apply. Please contact Development Services (541-766-6929; development.services@corvallisoregon.gov) for more information.
