Corvallis Fire Activates Mutual Aid for House Fire in Southwest Corvallis

Single family home with burn marks on the garage.

March 16, 2024 - Shortly before 3 a.m. on Friday, March 15, the Corvallis Regional Communications Center, which provides 911 service to Benton County, received a call about a garage fire in the 1100 block of SW Stopp Place in southwest Corvallis.

Corvallis Fire engine crews responded quickly and observed visible fire from several blocks away as they approached. Upon arrival, they reported that the garage was fully involved. Crews immediately attacked the fire and began evacuating the home.

The fire was elevated to a second alarm, which allowed the on-scene commander to bring in additional resources from neighboring departments to assist with the fire and ensure standby coverage. On first alarm, Corvallis Fire sent three engine companies and a battalion chief, along with a fourth engine company from Philomath Fire through mutual aid.

Thanks to the quick work of the responding fire crews, the fire was brought under control at about 3:40 a.m. Crews managed to keep the fire contained to the garage and out of the residence. There were no injuries reported to people or pets, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Corvallis Fire would like to thank all of their mutual aid partners for their assistance during this busy night in our community.
