Fire Escapes

The evaluation of fire escapes is a three part process:

  1. An inspection by a registered design professional. Inspection would verify the fire escape can meet fire code requirements.
  2. An examination by a registered design professional.  The examination is more detailed, where there may be scraping of paint and close examination of the way the system is connected to the building.
  3. Finally, the load test.  When the inspection and examination do not provide enough confidence, then a load test is conducted.

Repairs may have occurred before the load test and those repairs do not have to be load tested, but at the end of the evaluation the entire fire/life safety system will meet the fire code requirements.
