Firefighters fighting a grass fire with a tree in the foreground

This page is intended to provide you some information and resources to help educate you on the dangers and associated actions that we all need to be aware of.

As climate change continues to shift our world around, Fire Season now starts in July (on average) and can go late into the Fall season. Our surrounding foothill communities are not the only ones that need to be concerned about the dangers of a wildfire.

The history of recent wildfires has demonstrated that urban area community members need to do their part too in reducing vegetation on their roofs and gutters due to the threat of an “ember transfer”. That is the term for flying embers moving upwards of three miles and landing on a rooftop or gutter and creating another fire at a new location.

If you would like a briefing for your neighborhood, contact the Corvallis Fire Emergency Planning Manager to schedule that. Weed abatement issues can be submitted through the City's Report a Problem form. Refer to the links on this page for current guidance on actions you can take to help yourselves and this community become Wildfire Prepared!
