Major Transportation Projects
This web page has information on major transportation projects in the City. Click on any of the projects in the map below to learn more. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, call Public Works at 541-766-6916.
Projects are mapped based on location and phase as identified in the legend. Scroll down to learn how to engage during each phase of a project.
Horizon – Projects are in the horizon phase when they are included in the later years of the 5-year CIP (years 3 through 5). The timing of a project is based on priorities and financial constraints as understood at the time of the City’s last CIP process. As additional information becomes available, the priority of these projects, or portions of them, may change. Engagement opportunities during this phase are during the City’s biennial CIP process. The CIP document is made available to the community for review and comment for approximately one month, with all comments being transmitted to the City Council and Budget Commission for consideration during a joint meeting specific to the CIP. The Budget Commission provides input on the financial implications of a project, but project scope is ultimately the purview of City Council (click on a Horizon project above to navigate to the City CIP document and learn more about these potential future projects.)
Design – Projects are in the design phase when the scope and budget has been authorized by Council. During the design phase, staff prepare engineered construction plans and other contract documents necessary to bid the project for construction. Engagement efforts vary during design with emphasis placed on engaging with those properties directly impacted by the project. Direct contact with property owners, general mailings, and neighborhood meetings are types of engagement strategies that the project manager may rely on. For select projects, when design has reached approximately 60%, the City can schedule an opportunity for the broader community to learn more about the project and provide “design-level input." Design-level input on a specific project does not include input on project scope or the City’s general design standards. An example of design-level input would be sharing information with the project manager about a challenge a user experiences transitioning from an on-street bike lane to an off-street multi-use path within the project limits/scope and how that transition may be impacted with the project. The City currently partners with the Sustainability Coalition’s Transportation Action Team for meeting facilitation (click on a project above and navigate to the design section of the project page for more info).
Construction – Projects are in the construction phase when design is complete and a contractor has been selected. Community members can stay current on construction status and anticipated traffic impacts by monitoring the construction page and/or signing up for notices (click on a project above and navigate to the construction section on the project page for more info).
