ODOT Harrison Boulevard & Tyler Avenue Project

During much of 2025, the City of Corvallis and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) collaborated on completing a project along NW Harrison Boulevard between 2nd and 4th Streets, as well as a separate, but related project on Tyler Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets.

The project removed outdated equipment and replaced it with more modern technology along with reconsidering how people walk and ride in the area. Below are the enhancements we now have with the completion of the project:

  • A protected bicycle corridor from 2nd to 4th Street along Harrison Boulevard
  • A concrete median pedestrian island that restricts some vehicle movements at 2nd Street & Tyler Avenue
  • Curb extensions at 3rd Street & Tyler Avenue
  • ADA ramp upgrades throughout the project area
  • Lighting, signage and pavement marking upgrades
  • Replacement of two traffic signals. One at 2nd Street and another at 3rd Street and Harrison Boulevard

Frequently Asked Questions

What vehicle movements were restricted at Tyler Avenue and 2nd Street?

All left turns will be prohibited as well as straight through movement on Tyler Avenue. Vehicles will still have the ability to make right turns into, and from, Tyler Avenue.

Why were vehicle movements at 2nd Street and Tyler Avenue being restricted?

Tyler Avenue has been designated, and constructed, as a Neighborhood Bikeway in 2025. The intersection of 2nd Street and Tyler Avenue was difficult to cross for people walking and biking due to the street often being used as a cut through for vehicles traveling through town. The intent of the median island installation was to reduce cut through traffic and vehicle volumes on residential streets, as well as provide a safe space for people walking and biking to stop midway through the intersection. It also helps to reduce conflicts between turning vehicles, creating a safer intersection for all.

Were there any impacts to parking?

One parking stall was removed at the southwest corner of 4th Street and Harrison Boulevard. This vehicle space was part of a realignment of the street with the removal of the concrete bulb out and trees, providing a straight path for automobiles traveling along Harrison Boulevard. No other parking along Harrison Boulevard was affected. Work on Tyler Avenue was limited to the corners of the intersections, where parking is already prohibited.
