Crews Responding to Diesel Fuel Leak in Corvallis and Benton County
May 29, 2025 - Public works crews from Corvallis, Philomath, and Benton County are responding to a diesel fuel leak that was reported earlier today. The intermittent leak was observed along NW Walnut Boulevard from approximately NW Satinwood Drive through SW Reservoir Road, a distance of about 12 miles.
Reports indicated a sheen of fuel on surface roadways in the affected area. With rain in the forecast, Public Works crews from the City’s Environmental Services Division are working quickly to deploy absorbent materials near storm drains and sewers to protect local waterways in Corvallis. Similar work is taking place in Philomath and Benton County. Public safety agencies, including the Corvallis Fire Department, are responding to reports of fuel odor in areas of northwest Corvallis which are likely related to the fuel leak.
Emergency management officials believe the leak impacts are localized to northwest Corvallis and Philomath. Officials are working to gather more information about the leak and, if needed, request additional remediation resources. They note that there is no danger to the public.
