Attempted Assault with a Knife

 

On December 20th, 2017, at 10:05 am, Corvallis Police Department Officers responded to a home under construction in the 2800 block of NW Margarita Pl for a report of an assault.  Two constructions workers at the home were holding down their co-worker who had assaulted and attempted to stab one of them.  The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Ignacio Cervantez-Castaneda of Tangent, was taken into custody when officers arrived.  At the time he was taken into custody he was in possession of a concealed .32 caliber handgun in his waistband.  A folding pocketknife was also recovered from the scene.  The assault victim only suffered minor injuries from being punch in the face.

 

Cervantez-Castaneda was transported to the Benton County Jail where he was lodged on charges of Attempted Assault II, Assault IV, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm with a bail of $200,000.
