Mechanical Malfunctions Impact Street Sweeping in Corvallis
December 8, 2025 - Both of the street sweepers in the Public Works vehicle fleet are in the shop undergoing unexpected repairs at the moment. Until they're back in action, our regular street sweeping schedule will be impacted.
These two street sweepers are some of the most heavily utilized pieces of equipment in the Public Works fleet. They are used nearly every weekday of the year, and our maintenance staff work hard to keep them up and running with minimal downtime.
Leaf Collection Underway Through December 23
This comes towards the end of the fall leaf period when most leaves are down and have already been collected or swept. You can do your part to help by taking advantage of the last leaf pick up by Republic Services for your neighborhood (the week of December 23, usually on the same day as garbage collection). If you experience issues with leaf collection, please contact Republic Services directly.
Leaves piled in the street after December 23 will not be picked up and may create street flooding by clogging storm drains. You can help reduce local street flooding by keeping catch basin grates free of leaves and debris. If a catch basin in your neighborhood is covered by leaves, take a moment to safely rake the leaves off and away from the grate. Do not lift the grate or reach into the catch basin. If raking the leaves off the top does not unplug the catch basin, you can report the issue via Corvallis Connect.
Our primary goal with street sweeping is to prevent pollutants and debris from entering our stormwater system. It's also a visible way for the City to help tidy up neighborhoods around town, and we know it's frustrating when those services are impacted.
Once our street sweeping vehicles are repaired they will be put right back to work! We appreciate your patience as we catch up on sweeping in areas that may missed during this period.
