Barricaded Subject on NW 12th St

Corvallis Police Officers arrested an armed 42-year-old Corvallis man on Wednesday following a 45-minute standoff at his former residence on NW 12th Street. On April 19, 2023 at about 9:50 am, Officers responded to the 700-block of NW 12th St for a report that Zachery Cochrane broke into a residence he had been evicted from, locked himself inside and was possibly armed with knives. Officers responded to the residence and set up a perimeter while trying to talk with the Cochrane who was hostile, threatening, and uncooperative, encouraging him to come out peacefully. The CORE team was requested after multiple attempts to de-escalate Cochrane failed, however their efforts were also unsuccessful. The officers tried negotiating with Cochrane for over 45 minutes from outside the residence through a door they had forced open. When all efforts to de-escalate Cochrane had failed and an opportunity presented itself, the officers used non-lethal force to safely incapacitate Cochrane and take him into custody. Neither Cochrane nor any of the officers were injured in the incident.

Cochran was arrested and lodged at the Benton County Jail on the charges of:
