Corvallis Schools & COVID-19 Discussion - August 25 @ 6:30p @ online - Corvallis School Superintendent Ryan Noss and School Board Chair Sami Al-Abdrabbuh will discuss education and student social dynamics amid a pandemic during an upcoming City Club event. The school district announced last month that it would employ a hybrid model for reopening this year, and that for at least the first six weeks, classes would be conducted remotely. The event will occur online and is free to attend. Learn more.
Census is Coming to the Neighborhoods - The City of Corvallis has been notified that the U.S. Census Bureau will begin conducting field data collection activities for the 2020 U.S. Census between August 4 through October 11. Field data collection includes visiting homes to gather and verify Census information. Workers will be wearing ID badges identifying them as U.S. Census Bureau employees. Participation in the U.S. Census is vital to the future of the Corvallis community. Gathering a full and accurate count of everyone living in Corvallis helps determine future funding levels for infrastructure, education, and social services. Learn more.
Planning Commission Vacancy - The City is calling for applicants to the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission reviews land development proposals and makes recommendations regarding decisions related to the Land Development Code and Comprehensive Plan. Learn more. The application period is now open and closes at 5:00 pm on Friday, October 9, 2020. Interviews with the City Council are tentatively planned for Thursday, October 22, 2020. Corvallis Daytime Drop-In Center is seeking volunteers - The Corvallis Daytime Drop-In Center is seeking volunteers with some experience supporting low income/homeless individuals. Volunteers will help folks get fed, clothed, and otherwise helped. Hours are flexible between 8a - 2p Monday through Friday. For more information, phone 404-825-4524 or email.
