Stormwater Pond Maintenance Begins in April

Public Works will be conducting maintenance at city-owned detention ponds and other stormwater sites throughout the community, starting this month and continuing through June. The maintenance activities will include invasive vegetation and foreign debris removal efforts. Work will focus on about 25 sites, starting near NW Shooting Star Drive, then followed by Grand Oaks.

These detention facilities play an important role in the city's stormwater infrastructure, by slowing down the rate at which stormwater is sent back into piped infrastructure systems.

The work will be performed by a private contractor, Biohabitats, which was hired by the City through a contractual agreement. This contractor has a vast knowledge of invasive vegetation removal practices and best management practices needed within these types of facilities.

Thanks for your patience as we move through this maintenance project as we are striving to improve these stormwater quality facilities. By conducting maintenance within these specific facilities, we will be improving the quality of our stormwater before it reaches adjacent urban streams or the Willamette River.
