Street Resurfacing & Reconstruction - Division St
View this project in the Capital Improvement Program document here.
Schedule: Construction Spring-Summer 2026
This project will completely rebuild Division Street between Garfield and Spruce. The work will include reconstructing the entire roadway, repairing drainage problems, rebuilding the curb and driveway approaches, treating stormwater runoff with new stormwater management planters, bringing sidewalks and pedestrian crossings up to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and replacing the aging waterline that has reached the end of its useful life.
Our engineers have completed design work and construction is planned to begin in Spring 2026 and finish by Fall 2026. Prior to the start of construction, area residents will receive written notice with a more specific start date and contact information for questions during construction.
This is a complex project that will create disruptions in the neighborhood, but we will be working hard to minimize inconvenience. Local access to residences and businesses will be maintained as much as possible during construction but there will be times when access restriction will be required. Street closures with detours will be in place at times to facilitate safe work zones for both the public and the contractor. Garbage, school bus, mail delivery, and emergency services will be maintained.
One consequence of this work is that many of the existing street trees along Division will need to be removed. Unfortunately, over time, some of the trees have damaged the waterline, sidewalks or impaired street drainage. We have worked hard to save as many as possible and replace them at a near one-to-one ratio in locations, and with species, that will provide long lasting benefit without future damage to our streets and utilities. Please see the graphic below showing locations for all the new facilities being constructed and where new trees will be planted. If you would like to learn more about why a specific tree must be removed, please email UrbanForestry@corvallisoregon.gov.
A new element of this project is stormwater management planters. These facilities contain plants and soil that help filter and treat stormwater runoff from the street to reduce pollution in our environment. Please see the conceptual graphic and picture below of a local facility.
