Parks & Recreation Advisory Boards & Commissions
Corvallis Parks and Recreation supports various boards and commissions that advise City Council on such topics as parks, urban forestry, recreation, natural areas, arts and culture.
Citizen participation on City of Corvallis boards and commissions serves two important purposes:
- Citizens are directly involved in their local government and can positively impact the future of their community.
- The City Council receives timely input and information regarding issues and potential impacts on citizens.
Anyone living in Corvallis, employed or self-employed full time in Corvallis, or residing within Corvallis' Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) may serve on these advisory boards and commissions. Typically, each term of office runs for three years; members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council; no individual member may serve more than three consecutive terms or nine years. Occasionally, additional ad hoc task forces and planning committees are created to assist with specific park projects, such as the Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
Meeting packets, agendas and minutes for these boards and commissions are available on the "Archives" pages of City of Corvallis web site. Select Parks & Recreation, then Boards and Commissions.
